Dr. Wright has been awarded the prestigious Distinguished Primatologist Award from the American Society of Primatologists.
In February 2008 Hurricane Ivan struck in Madagascar causing extensive casualties and damage. The bridge to Ranomafana National Park was washed away and there were several land slides in the area.

received the "Officier d'Ordre National" medal and
Benjamin Andriamihaja received
the "Chevalier d'Ordre National" medal from the President
of Madagascar. The medal ceremony was held at the Centre
Valbio.
